US president Barack Obama plans to boost international tourist numbers to the United States. He plans to do this by setting a number of initiatives in place over the next year.
The United States is a top tourist destination for international travellers. Nearly 60 million people visited the US in 2010, and they pumped approximately USD $134 billion into the American economy.
Obama wants to increase these numbers by creating a new national tourism plan that will include increasing the number of nationalities who do not need a visa to enter the country, making border crossings more convenient and easy for frequent visitors, and attracting people to national parks in addition to tourist attractions.
The president has expressed the desire to see these changes go into place as soon as possible. Holiday Rental Web sees this as an extremely positive move, and predicts that international travellers may soon find it easier to book holidays, hotels and holiday homes in the United States in the coming months.
