Europe Commission of WTO Meets in Bulgaria in April

The Europe Travel Commission of the World Tourism Organization is going to hold a sitting in Bulgaria’s capital Sofia.

The meeting is scheduled for April 27-28, 2010. The Bulgarian government is expected to allocate BGN 100 000 for the organization and the holding of the World Tourism Organization forum.

The funds will be used to pay for conference halls, transportation, hotel stays of the delegates, printing, translation services.

Representatives of 44 European states are expected to arrive to Sofia as is the UNWTO Secretary-General Taleb Rifai.

For the period 2009-2011 Bulgaria is a member of the executive council of the World Tourism Organization. Its two previous terms on the board were in 2003-2007 and 1982-1985.

A total of 154 government institutions in charge of tourism are members of the UNWTO as are over 300 representatives of the private sector which are mostly associations of tourist companies.
